BOYFRIEND VS LINCOLN LOUD (FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' MODS/THE LOUD HOUSE FANON)
CORE THEME:
Two basic, standard human main characters who are the centerfocus of two pieces of media with VERY infamous reputations in the internet, with them usually being portrayed as the main protagonist in multiple fanmade stories portraying them as a godlike, flawless and untouchable heroic figures in places they shouldn't be in, even expanding upon multiple crossover works out of their own universes with powers never been established in their canons before.
CONNECTIONS:
Both are well known and iconic MCs of infamous pieces of work with very infamous fanbases that gained their infamy around the 2020's (Friday Night Funkin'/The Loud House).
In their respective original timelines, both characters are usually portrayed as simple and borderline cookie cut characters in terms of characterization and design with very simple goals (Boyfriend simply wants to get with his Girlfriend and do music in peace/Lincoln Loud is the middle child with 11 sisters, just trying to get through with his life)
...But the script is DRASTICALLY FLIPPED in fanon material, with both characterizations for them going two ways, one of which being portrayed as an absolute jackass who goes on an edgy streak acting like they're the toughest thing ever (Boyfriend in some mods straight up goes and invades other peoples privacy, a genuine annoyance to random people just to sing and acts overconfident in himself to the point of being an unlikable prick/Lincoln usually acts like a edgy emo 13 year old at the slightest bit of pushback when his sisters and family don't agree with him on anything, even at terms going to physically assault them if the material in question is that edgy, making him act like his family hates him and whatnot.)
In some other cases, both can be portrayed as sensitive and very wimpy, usually covering behind other characters to be protected when the plot demands it in certain cases (Boyfriend in certain mods...acts like a generic anime protagonist, usually hiding behind his Girlfriend or other likes like Pico or other mod characters to protect him or overly emotional for no damn reason/Lincoln in certain stories, is literally just a massive crybaby who runs away all the time because his "sisters are mean to him" and hides behind side or background characters)
Said characters, act as genuine plot devices in order to make him look like they're the innocent ones in certain stories, or just purely exist to hype him up as the main character (Girlfriend and Pico purely feel like their own selves and rather just extensions to Boyfriend/Clyde, Ronnie Anne, Carol and SOOO many others I can't name because i'd be here all day constantly choose to be on Lincoln's side on MULTIPLE occasions)
Both are usually the main focus of several crossover fanfics related to them, throwing them into multiple worlds where they don't belong to and making them the major focus where everyone basically treats them like gods gift, acting like they've always known them even to the point of being out of character (Boyfriend in mods has been in multiple other franchises, where he always replaces certain main characters that get off-screened/never shown in said mods (Tom for Sonic.EXE, Pibby for Learning With Pibby, Frisk for Friday Night Dustin'/Lincoln has been in MULTIPLE crossover fanfics, the most prominent being other shows like Amphibia, Gravity Falls, and Helluva Boss where he is mainly shown to be some sort of ladies man ~~gross~~ and every other character acts like he's the unsung hero of the story after the camera shifts on him)
Both also in multiple fanworks, gain random ass superpowers that have never been alluded to in canon, basically making them borderline untouchable to any threat in said fanworks (Boyfriend has the GF protecting shield, the retries, copying other abilities out of nowhere, immunity to a multiversal virus, the chaos emeralds, Mario powerups, you name it/Dear god I could be here all day with Lincoln's constant OP bullshit his fans give him, but basically just imagine stuff like Super Saiyan, toonforce, etc)
Their fanbases uh...did NOT react lightly to a certain piece of media that portrayed them on the losing end of the story (Mario's Madness V2/No Such Luck), constantly bitching about it to the point of insulting the storyline, two specific characters (M/Lynn Loud Jr) and even making multiple alternative endings where THEY win in the end with help of certain things (All the heavy amounts of NSL alternative endings, usually going emo or other characters coming to aid like plot devices/Secret Exit, where Boyfriend wins from a Deus Ex Machina almost all the time against Ultra M)
Speaking of their fanbases....yeah you should've seen this coming from a mile away, both fanon versions come from usually considered VERY toxic fanbases, with before being considered the "saviour" of certain mediums of animations/shows (Nickelodeon/Newgrounds) and eventually becoming infamous for their fanbases, even to this day with the FNF fanbase constantly getting into controversy with it's modders/Do I even need to explain the deal with Lincon's).
Their rogues gallery consists of multiple crossover villains that are usually thrown against them, with them always beating them at the end of the day with a random asspull out of nowhere (Mod Boyfriend has thrown down with the Dearests, Sonic.EXE, The Darkness, Tricky the Clown, Ultra M (If you count Secret Exit)/Lincoln in fanon has fought against Bill Cipher, Chandler, Literally all of CN's villain roster at some point honestly and even his SISTERS in some fanworks that demonize them.)
And finally...both fanon versions are usually tried to be written as super deep and complex characters, but just really...REALLY fall flat when it comes to execution (Boyfriend feels like a walking power fantasy all the time/Lincoln is...well, kind of the same but far more edgier)
Both are depicted, in the powerscaling community, as someone who can solo all of fiction because they are gag characters (Lincoln Loud was unironically getting glazed to Boundless by Loudfan129 | Boyfriend being described as a multiversal entity capable of winning any fight through a rap battle).
CONTRASTS:
Game made for adults vs Cartoon made for kids (That each gained opposite audiences at the end of the day)
